Challenge
TelStrat is a manufacturer of telecommunications hardware and software. They wanted to have their existing web site redeveloped using a technology that would simplify site maintenance and allow them to reduce maintenance costs by eliminating license fees for commercial web development software.
Solution
In addition to the complete cosmetic maekover to improve the look and feel of the web site, VirtualNerds modified our proprietary online administration suite to include extensive web content controls and customer relationship managment (CRM) tools. The entire system is powered by an enterprise level database.
Result
Active server Pages (ASP) technology was mated to a Microsoft SQL Server database to deliver:
- Text Editors that support Plain Text and HTML
- Image upload tools that allow images to be inserted into the body content or other locations on each page.
- Upload tools for downloadable documents
- Customer management tools
- Customized lists of downloadable documents
- Message Boards
- Sales and Tech Support contact Ticket forms with issue tracking capability
- Online job applications with Human Resources tools
- Broadcast Email with mailing lists of registered customers
- Interactive Calendar of Events
The VirtualNerds solution will allow TelStrat to eliminate the expensive licensing fees for web authoring tools previously required for site maintenance. The removal of these "chair" licenses allows TelStrat to distribute responsiblity for web site content creation to more employees and save money at the same time.
This established foundation will allow VirtualNerds to assist TelStrat to leverage other opportunities for business automation by extending the system to include:
- Secure company Intranet
- Online Product Configurator
- Online order processing and tracking
- Online Self-Help Desk with Knowledgebase
